Only the applicable assembly details establish the claimed performance. Extra layers can also affect door frames, electrical boxes, and adjoining surfaces. The quote should follow the specified design and include those interfaces rather than adding material without a defined purpose.
No. Use the appropriate system for the actual opening and assembly. Identify pipes, cables, ducts, and other penetrations during the scope review. Clarify which trade supplies and installs the required penetration treatment so it is not omitted between contracts.
No. Decorative finish and fire-resistance construction are different specifications. A utility enclosure and a painted public corridor may have different appearance requirements even when both have specified fire-resistance construction. Include the decorative finish level in the estimate as a separate requirement.
Changes need coordination to restore the required assembly details. Tell the project team about planned electrical or plumbing additions before the finish is complete. Coordinating those openings early helps avoid repeated cutting and repair of the same area.
Provide the design reference, wall or ceiling dimensions, layers, openings, and project drawings. For an existing repair, photographs of the opening and any available original plans are useful starting points.
